What Are You Paying Attention To?
We were in Yosemite this past weekend and we decided to head up to Badger Pass so that we could get lost in the magic of the wilderness. There are very few people up in the high country so we were inundated beauty, the silence that only occurs when you are way off the trails and a visual feast that touches my soul in a way like nothing else.
As we snowshoeing and we passed a woman on cross country skis accompanied by her sweet little dog. We first shared our wonder of the area we were in and then she shared this story:
She had passed a man on snow shoes and he had ear buds in his ears and he was listening to something intently. This women on the skis was curious as to what he was listening to so she asked him. He replied that he was listening to a podcast.
He explained with enthusiasm that there is a google guy that was talking about how one can fid happiness. She asked him if he was willing to take out his ear buds and to just BE in this amazing expansive mountainous region.
He smiled at her and wished her a great day and continued on his walk listening to how to find happiness. When this woman shared this story with us, it just reminded me how challenging it is to be present and to just be in the moment. We are conditioned to be on the chase for something better and yet we miss ALL the magic that surrounds us in present time.
My suggestion this week is to take some time to intentionally be present, in the moment and see what unfolds. It’s not about getting your way, it’s about creating the way!!
